SUMMER STUDENT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS (MAY TO AUGUST)

Under the supervision of the Roads Supervisor, the successful candidate will assist in a variety of laboring activities to maintain sidewalks, streets, and roads and perform other related duties.

SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND KNOWLEDGE:

• High School Diploma;
• Must provide a clear criminal record;
• Valid Ontario Driver’s license;
• Be in good physical condition;
• Physical effort required for lifting.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Excellent understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French and English.

SUMMER STUDENT PUBLIC SAFETY AND BY-LAW ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENT (MAY TO AUGUST)

Reporting to the Director Public Safety and Enforcement and Senior By-Law Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the door to door sale of dog tags, enforcement of municipal by-laws such as traffic and parking control, issue violation certificates, if required attend and give evidence in court and perform other related duties.

SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND KNOWLEDGE:

• High School Diploma;
• Post-secondary education and/or experience in Law Enforcement field an asset;
• Basic knowledge of the provincial and municipal legislation;
• Must provide a clear criminal record and driver’s record;
• Valid Ontario Driver’s license;
• Must be available to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends when required);
• Be in good physical condition for foot and bicycle patrols;
• Physical effort required for lifting.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Excellent understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French and English.

VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS - EMBRUN-RUSSELL

 
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Must be 18 years of age or older;
• Must be a resident of the township of Russell;
• Must be physically fit and provide a doctor’s medical certificate;
• Must have a valid Ontario driver’s licence;
• Must provide a current police check;
• Must provide a current license abstract.
Assets:
• Available during daytime, evenings and weekends;
• Have a DZ driver’s licence;
• Have a first aid certificate;
• Bilingual.

  • Applicant must be a resident of the Township of Russell, and;
  • Applicant is preferably bilingual (English and French).

If you’ve got a winning idea for starting a new business and are a student who is not afraid of hard work, you should consider applying to our Summer Company program. Summer Company is a great opportunity for enterprising young people who want to start and run their own summer businesses. The program provides hands-on business coaching and mentoring from local community business leaders who will work with you to make your Summer Company a reality.

You never know, one day your summer experience may lead to an exciting career. If your application is accepted, you will be eligible to receive an initial award of up to $1,500 to put toward start-up costs and up to $1,500 upon successful completion of the program.

Where do I start? You are invited to take advantage of business consulting services and resources available through our network of program providers. A list of program providers is available through our website at www.ontario.ca/summercompany . We strongly recommend that you get in touch with a program provider to assist you with your application.

Applying to Summer Company is a competitive process. Space is limited and the program reaches capacity quickly, so APPLY EARLY.
