Program Coordinator - Full Time (10 month term - May 2024 to February 2025)

The Parks and Recreation department is seeking a motivated individual for the above-mentioned position to join our team on a temporary basis for a 10-month period.

The Program Coordinator will plan, organize, develop, and evaluate recreational summer, fall and winter programs for participants of all ages. They will perform supervisory duties to ensure the prompt completion of assigned duties, and to ensure that all work is completed following established safe work practices. They will be responsible for the hiring, supervision and evaluation of the programs staff including summer camps, March break camp and the Russell Centennial pool.

The candidate will be responsible of all recreation facilities reservations and responsible for the management and operation of the bars (purchasing, staffing, cash handling and deposits). The candidate will be responsible for the Univerus Sport & Recreation software (registrations, programming, etc.).

Skills, Competencies and Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • A post-secondary education in the related field would be an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of office software, including, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Univerus Sport & Recreation management software would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of InDesign software would be an asset.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, be able to set priorities and have excellent organizational and people skills.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Able to keep confidential information.
  • Smart Serve certificate would be an asset.

Language Requirements:
Excellent ability in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing of both French and English.

Compensation:
The salary, based on a 35 hours per week is between $70,771 and $88,389 per year and includes an excellent benefit package.

Summer Student - Infrastructure Services

May 6th to August 30th - 40 hrs / week

Under the supervision of Public Works Supervisor, students will assist in a variety of laboring activities to maintain sidewalks, streets and roads and perform other related duties.

Requirements:

  • Must have a high School Diploma;
  • Must provide a clear criminal record;
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver's license;
  • Must have CSA approved work boots;
  • Requires some physical effort such as lifting, pulling and carrying;
  • Bilingual.

Compensation:

The salary is fixed between $18.68 and $21.16 per hour.

Summer Student - Administrative Services Clerk

May 6th to August 30th - 35 hrs / week

Under the supervision of the Administrative Services Manager, the incumbent will provide administrative support and various clerical tasks to the Administrative Services and assist with the implementation of electronic Human Resources and Corporate Services files. Duties will include but not limited to performing electronic data entry, filing, preparation of onboarding and recruitment electronic files and perform miscellaneous job-related files as assigned.

Requirements:

The candidate must have clerical experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 such as Word, Excel, and SharePoint. The candidate must have experience working in a multi-tasked environment and must have organizational and interpersonal skills and must be bilingual.

Compensation:

The salary is $17.03 per hour and work hours for this position is Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

June to August

  1. Lifeguards/Instructors, 15 years or older
  2. Assistant Supervisor, 18 years or older

Requirements:

  • Have and provide all current aquatic certifications;
  • First aid, CPR C;
  • National Lifeguard Service (NLS) and all instructor certifications.
  • Must provide a clear criminal record (18 years or older)
  • Bilingual.

Compensation:

  • The Lifeguard/Instructor salary is fixed between $17.58 and $19.23 per hour.
  • The Assistant Supervisor salary is fixed between $18.68 and $21.16 per hour.

Here's what you'll do as a Crossing Guard

Crossing Guards are responsible for ensuring that children travelling to and from school pass safely through their assigned crossing. Crossing Guards are safety figures and are important and engaged members of the community that keep our children safe.

Here are the specific job duties:

  • Direct and help pedestrians safely across the street, at designated crossings stopping traffic as necessary.
  • Communicate traffic safety, crossing rules, and other information to students and adults.
  • Inspect crossing on a daily basis and report any unsafe conditions.
  • Be aware of emergency vehicles approaching the area and ensure that they have priority over vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Shift wage rate is $17/crossing.

  • Assigned designated hours each day the schools are in session.
  • On-call possibilities when replacement is needed.

Daycare Positions
Registered Early Childhood Educators (Full and Part-Time)

The Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) will be under the supervision of the Daycare Manager and will be responsible for delivering an educational program including activities that are geared toward children's development, their health, their security and their well-being and ensure professional and efficient management of the programming and activities of the service.

Requirements:

  • College degree in Early Childhood Education or in the process of completing an apprenticeship program;
  • Be a member of the Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario;
  • Valid and Negative Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector (within six months);
  • Hold a valid CPR and First Aid certification;
  • Must be 18 years or older;
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French (St.Joseph and St.Jean/La Croisée).
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of English (Mother Teresa)
  • Bilingual is an asset.


Compensation: The compensation is fixed between $24.47 and $27.54 per hour.

Non-Graduate Educators (Full and Part-Time)

The Non-Graduate Educator will be responsible for delivering an educational program including activities that are geared toward children's development, their health, their security and their well-being.

Requirements:

  • Please include all current certification including first aid/CPR
  • Valid and Negative Criminal Record Check- Vulnerable Sector (within six months).
  • Candidates must be 18 years or older.
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French (St.Joseph and St.Jean/La Croisée).
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of English (Mother Teresa).
  • Bilingual is an asset.

Compensation: The compensation is fixed between $20.06 and $22.58 per hour.
