Five positions available on the Russell Namesake Rededication Committee
After community debate over the Township’s current namesake, Peter Russell, the Township of Russell will be keeping its name but rededicating the honour of the name “Russell” to a new candidate who better represents the community’s ideals. Committee member requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older;
- Must be a Canadian Citizen;
- Must be a resident of the Township of Russell;
- Preferably bilingual (English/French);
- Must participate as an individual and not represent any organization or special interest group; and
- Must be available to attend meetings and other activities of the Committee.
Term: Ends after a new namesake has been approved by Council.
Remuneration: Not applicable.
Mandate: The committee’s purpose is to receive incoming resident submissions for the rededication of “Russell” in someone else’s honour. The committee shall research, evaluate and verify the submissions received.
How to Apply: Those interested in the above-mentioned positions are invited to complete, sign and submit the Committee Appointment Application Form before 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022 to the Clerk’s Office by email or at the Town Hall at 717 Notre-Dame Street, Embrun ON K0A 1W1.
