Hazardous Waste Day Cancelled May 1, 2021
The Hazardous Waste Day event on May 1st, 2021 is cancelled following the Province’s COVID-19 stay-at-home order in effect until May 6, 2021 to avoid mass gathering at the municipal garage. The next hazardous waste event is scheduled for Saturday, October 16th, 2021. To keep the two hazardous waste events budgeted by Council for 2021, there will be a 2-day event on October 15th and 16th 2021. View the Event Calendar for all special waste collections.
The Curbside Exchange Day on Saturday, April 17th, 2021 and the Large Item Collection on the week of April 19th, 2021 can continue as planned.
Curbside Exchange Day allows residents to be outdoors, stay within their neighbourhoods, physical distance from others, all while remaining with members of their household only. We understand the importance of being outdoors for physical exercise and mental health. We ask that you remember to wash your hands and sanitize regularly and follow all other health precautions to keep our community safe, if you choose to participate.
Staff are equipped to successfully run the Large Item special collection.

FACT SHEET / FAQ
Why is the Hazardous Waste Day event cancelled if residents are in their vehicle?
The May 1st 2021 Hazardous Waste Day event is cancelled following the provincial stay-at-home order as it will be a mass gathering of residents and staff at the municipal garage.
Why can’t the hazardous waste event be sooner than October?
Drain-All, the company who disposes of the hazardous materials, has little to no availability to re-schedule another hazardous waste event in 2021. To keep the two hazardous waste events budgeted by Council for 2021, the best option was to host a 2-day event on October 15th and 16th 2021.
Where can I bring my hazardous waste items before the municipal event in October?
During the year, some local hardware stores accept specific hazardous waste items. Please contact your local hardware store before bringing your items to confirm if they are offering that service.
