Pierre Leroux, Mayor
613-443-3066 x2307

I am a proud husband to Lynn and father to three boys, Vincent, Christian and Jeremy. In 2001, we moved to Russell Township and opened our first small business in Embrun. In 2010 we opened a second location in Casselman, and a few months later I was elected municipal Councillor. We have since sold our business, and enjoying the role of Mayor so much, I proceeded to study and receive my certificate in Local Government Administration from Dalhousie University in 2017.

What motivated you to enter the realm of politics?
I had never envisioned myself a politician. In fact, it had never really crossed my mind. It was not until a friend said, “you should run for council” while discussing local issues and a controversial by-law that I contemplated the idea. Having previously served as a volunteer firefighter in Embrun, I saw this as an opportunity to help my community again.

What do you do for fun?
This job! I truly believe that in life you must do what you enjoy. Outside my role as Mayor (when I have free time) I play board games with family and friends. I also consider myself a geek and have an immense comic book collection. Recently, I have concentrated on my health through weight training and have returned to a childhood passion of mine, martial arts.
