Celebrating Pride Season 2025

Pride Season, spanning from June to September, is a time when 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and allies come together in cities across the country to celebrate resilience, talent, and contributions. The term “Pride Season” refers to the wide range of Pride events held during the summer months. While June through September sees a concentration of these celebrations, Pride events occur throughout the year in many communities, continuing the spirit of inclusion and recognition beyond the summer.
The acronym 2SLGBTQI+ stands for Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and other identities within sexual and gender-diverse communities. The “2S” is placed at the beginning to recognize Two-Spirit people as the original members of 2SLGBTQI+ communities. The “I” represents intersex individuals, acknowledging sex characteristics beyond sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. The “+” signifies inclusivity of additional identities and terminologies used by members of these communities.
With the support of our Community, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, the Township of Russell continues to foster a welcoming, inclusive community where all residents and visitors feel safe, valued, and respected.
