Required Documents

Applicants must each have 2 pieces of government-issued identification at their meeting with the Clerk's Department. One piece of identification must include your photo. Acceptable identification includes:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Valid Passport
  • Record of immigrant landing
  • Canadian citizenship card
  • Valid Driver's Licence
  • Valid Ontario Photo Card

Certificate of Divorce

You will need to bring official proof of the divorce with you when you apply for a marriage licence. This can be the original or a court-certified copy of one of three documents:

  • the final decree
  • the final judgment
  • a certificate of divorce

Licence Fee

The marriage licence fee is $160.00.

Payment can only be paid by cash or debit on the day of your appointment.


The Township of Russell will not coordinate or organize marriage ceremonies.
