Awards and Recognitions
Our Citizen Recognition Program helps recognize community members for their commitment to our community or for bringing pride to the Township of Russell.
Requests/nominations are accepted throughout the year.
Request a Certificate from the Mayor
If you or a loved one is celebrating a milestone birthday, anniversary, or other event deserving recognition, you can request a certificate of recognition from the Mayor.
Examples of certificate recognition include:
- Milestone Birthdays (Age 75, 80, or more)
- Wedding Anniversary (50 years married or more)
- Retirement
- Business Achievement
- Launch or Grand Opening
- School event
Email the Clerk's Office to request a certificate of recognition from the Mayor. Your certificate can be mailed, picked up at Town Hall, or presented by the Mayor (or a council member in their absence).
The recipient must currently live within the Township of Russell.

Community Award
We present a Community Award to those who have made an exceptional contribution to the community, beyond an act of kindness. Recipients have taken action to make the Township of Russell a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
Recipients receive a medallion from the Mayor.
Recipients do not have to reside in or have come from the Township of Russell, however their contributions must be related directly to the Township.
The Community Award is formerly known as the Community Builder Award.

Key to the Township
We present the Key to the Township to persons, organizations, or groups who represent the Township of Russell on a national or global scale, with an exceptional level of integrity and pride. This may be:
- a contribution on behalf of the Township; and/or,
- if they originate from the Township of Russell, a contribution that reflects exceptionally well on the Township. Recipients do not have to reside in or have come from the Township of Russell if their national or global contribution is on behalf of the Township of Russell.
Recipients receive a ceremonial key.
