Holiday Camp Counselors and Coordinator (Part-Time)

The Parks & Recreation Department is looking for mature, motived and bilingual individuals for the Holiday Camp (December 27 to 30, 2022 and January 3 to 6, 2023).

2 Camp Counselors (16 years or older)

1 Camp Coordinator (18 years or older)

Requirements:

  • Certifications First aid and CPR C and;
  • Must provide a clear criminal record (18 years or older)

Compensation:

The salary for Camp Counselor is $15.50 per hour.

The salary for Camp Coordinator is $17 per hour.

Receptionist — St-Jean/La Croisée Daycare (Part-Time)

The receptionist will be responsible to greet the parents and children and point in the right direction within the Daycare.

Position Overview

  • Respond to parents’ requests;
  • Perform various administrative tasks;
  • Provide general supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and the property;
  • Possibility to work with a group of children.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older;
  • Valid and Negative Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector (within six months);
  • Current certification including first aid/C.P.R.

Language Requirements: Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French. English an asset.

Compensation: The salary is between $15.35 and $17.32 per hour.

Building Official
Under the direction of the Planning, Building and Economic Development Director and the Chief Building Official, the candidate will be responsible for the review of building permit applications and plans, conduct required building inspections, maintenance inspections and issue orders while ensuring compliance to the Ontario Building Code and other applicable laws. The Building Official will ensure that buildings and related systems meet or exceed minimum standards for protection of the safety and welfare of the consumer, general public, owners and occupants.

Requirements:

  • The candidate must possess a post-secondary education in a related discipline and/or combination of specialized training and experience. The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of the general legal and the house qualifications with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and working knowledge of the provincial acts and codes, municipal by-laws is a must.
  • The Township of Russell will support learning and qualification for candidates who are working towards full qualifications.
  • The candidate must be able to work efficiently under time restraints as well as communicate in a professional manner and hold a valid class G driver's license.

Language requirements: Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of both French and English.

Compensation: The salary, based on 35 hours per week, is between, $53,883 and $67,334 per year in addition to a market premium adjustment together with an excellent benefit package. The Township further recognizes this position having successfully completed course work/certifications process.

Junior Planner

Under the direction of the Planning, Building and Economic Development Director, the candidate person will carry out a variety of tasks related to the urban planning, including the communication of information and technical advice to requests from the public concerning requests for information on different properties, minor variances, severances, rezoning applications. The junior planner will assist the building officials with the approval of site plans related to the building permit application.

Skills, Competencies and Knowledge:

  • A college or university degree in the field of urban planning, geography or law;
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the municipal or private sector;
  • A working knowledge of the Planning Act, by-laws and zoning bylaws is an asset;
  • Ability to work efficiently under time restraints as well as communicate in a professional manner.

Language Requirements: Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of both French and English (preferred).

Municipal Planner

The Planning department of the Township of Russell is currently seeking a motivated individual for the above-mentioned position. Under the direction of the Planning, Building and Economic Development Director, the Planner will be responsible for processing requests related to zoning amendment, site plan and plans of subdivision and drafting of relevant planning development policies. The candidate will ensure that safety, quality and efficiency are respected in the planning process and monitor on-going projects. In addition, the Planner will be responsible for preparing reports, follow up on internal and external communications related the projects as well as prepare research projects. The Planner will work with other professional disciplines and municipal authorities to deliver high quality services to our clients and consultants. The candidate will also represent the Planning Department at various committees on issues related to planning.

Skills, Competencies, and Knowledge:

  • A post-secondary education in Planning or Geography or other related field.

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a municipal or private environment in the field of urban planning.

  • Member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).

  • Advanced knowledge of office software, including, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook

  • The ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure and be able to set priorities.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, research and report writing skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Must work well in a team environment.

  • Able to maintain confidential information.

Requirements:

  • College degree in Early Childhood Education or in the process of completing an apprenticeship program;

  • Be a member of the Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario;

  • Hold a valid CPR and First Aid certification;

  • Must be 18 years or older;

  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French.

Compensation: The compensation is fixed between $19.18 and $21.70 per hour.
