Financial Analyst - Payroll

Under the direction of the Deputy Treasurer, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of our payroll and performing various clerical and accounting tasks such as data management while keeping the employee information relevant to payroll purposes up to date. The Payroll Analyst will work as a member of the finance team and provide support within the department as required. Integrity and strong attention to detail are crucial for this role as well as customer service and interpersonal skills.

Skills, Competencies and Knowledge:

  • College Degree in relevant field preferred;
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience is required;
  • experience working in accounting;
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll and payroll tax laws required;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel and Outlook required;
  • Organize and write procedures in a logical and methodical manner;
  • Time management and data entry skills along with an excellent attention to detail;
  • Work well in a team environment;
  • Ability to maintain confidential information;
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping procedures and payroll processing procedures;
  • Good mathematical skills.

Language requirements: Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of both French and English.

Compensation: The salary, based on a 35 hours per week, is between $53,883 and $67,334 per year together with an excellent benefit package.

Operators at the Embrun and Russell Arena (part-time)

Requirements:

  • Evenings & weekend shifts;
  • Candidates must be 18 years old or older;
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence;
  • Perform various indoor and outdoor housekeeping duties and maintenance tasks inside and outside the facilities;
  • Maintain ice surface and clean all equipment;
  • Respond to public inquiries either by phone or in person;
  • Monitor compressor system operations and record keeping;
  • Event/rental/program set up & takedown;
  • Ensure a safe working environment and conditions in all areas of operations;
  • Criminal Record Check;
  • First Aid, CPR and AED certifications.

Compensation: The salary is $18/hour.

Assistant Operators at the Embrun and Russell Arena (part-time)

Requirements:

  • Evenings & weekend shifts;
  • Candidates must be 16 years old or older;
  • Perform various housekeeping duties and maintenance tasks inside and outside the facilities;
  • Assist facility operator maintaining ice surface and cleaning equipment;
  • Respond to public inquiries either by phone or in person.

Client Services Attendants at the Bowling Hall (part-time)

Requirements:

  • Must be 18+;
  • Smart Serve Certification required;
  • Must be motivated and able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Requires some physical effort such as lifting, pulling and carrying
  • Perform tasks specific to opening and closing of the bowling hall;
  • Prepare and cook food as required, wash and clean canteen, and bowling hall;
  • Respect proper food handling, storage and preparation regulation.

Compensation: The salary is $17/hour.

Receptionist at the St-Jean/La Croisée Daycare (part-time)

The receptionist will be responsible to greet the parents and children and point in the right direction within the Daycare.

Position Overview

  • Respond to parents’ requests;
  • Perform various administrative tasks;
  • Provide general supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and the property;
  • Possibility to work with a group of children.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older;
  • Valid and Negative Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector (within six months);
  • Current certification including first aid/C.P.R.

Language Requirements: Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French. English an asset.

Junior Planner

Under the direction of the Planning, Building and Economic Development Director, the candidate person will carry out a variety of tasks related to the urban planning, including the communication of information and technical advice to requests from the public concerning requests for information on different properties, minor variances, severances, rezoning applications. The junior planner will assist the building officials with the approval of site plans related to the building permit application.

Skills, Competencies and Knowledge:

  • A college or university degree in the field of urban planning, geography or law;
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the municipal or private sector;
  • A working knowledge of the Planning Act, by-laws and zoning bylaws is an asset;
  • Ability to work efficiently under time restraints as well as communicate in a professional manner.

Language Requirements: Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of both French and English (preferred).

Municipal Planner

The Planning department of the Township of Russell is currently seeking a motivated individual for the above-mentioned position. Under the direction of the Planning, Building and Economic Development Director, the Planner will be responsible for processing requests related to zoning amendment, site plan and plans of subdivision and drafting of relevant planning development policies. The candidate will ensure that safety, quality and efficiency are respected in the planning process and monitor on-going projects. In addition, the Planner will be responsible for preparing reports, follow up on internal and external communications related the projects as well as prepare research projects. The Planner will work with other professional disciplines and municipal authorities to deliver high quality services to our clients and consultants. The candidate will also represent the Planning Department at various committees on issues related to planning.

Skills, Competencies, and Knowledge:

  • A post-secondary education in Planning or Geography or other related field.

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a municipal or private environment in the field of urban planning.

  • Member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).

  • Advanced knowledge of office software, including, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook

  • The ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure and be able to set priorities.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, research and report writing skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Must work well in a team environment.

  • Able to maintain confidential information.
