As a result of the new municipal acquisition of the St. Joseph's and Mother Teresa's daycares in Russell, several positions are available in addition to the St-Jean/La Croisée Daycare positions:

St-Joseph Daycare:

Graduate Educator details :

The Graduate Educator will be under the supervision of the Daycare Manager and will be responsible for delivering an educational program including activities that are geared toward children's development, their health, their security and their well-being and ensure professional and efficient management of the programming and activities of the service.

Requirements:

  • College degree in Early Childhood Education or in the process of completing an apprenticeship program;
  • Be a member of the Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario;
  • Valid and Negative Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector (within six months);
  • Hold a valid CPR and First Aid certification;
  • Must be 18 years or older;
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French (St.Joseph and St.Jean/La Croisée).
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of English (Mother Teresa)
  • Bilingual is an asset.

Compensation: The compensation is fixed between $24.47 and $27.54 per hour.

Non-Graduate Educators details :

The Non-Graduate Educator will be responsible for delivering an educational program including activities that are geared toward children's development, their health, their security and their well-being.

Requirements:

  • Please include all current certification including first aid/CPR
  • Valid and Negative Criminal Record Check- Vulnerable Sector (within six months).
  • Candidates must be 18 years or older.
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French (St.Joseph and St.Jean/La Croisée).
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of English (Mother Teresa).
  • Bilingual is an asset.

Compensation: The compensation is fixed between $20.06 and $22.58 per hour.

Cook details :

The Cook will be under the supervision of the Daycare Manager and will be responsible for planning and developing balanced menus and snacks, preparing full meals, shopping, storing food and maintenance of the kitchen. Can replace child care staff on occasion.

Requirements:

  • Secondary school diploma plus vocational training in meal preparation cooking paired with a minimum of one year of experience in a similar position (daycare, hospital, elderly residence);
  • Food Safety Training Attestation (mandatory);
  • Valid Driver's License;
  • Up-to-date First Aid certification (CPR Level C);
  • Valid and Negative Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector (within six months);
  • Job that requires a good physical fitness;
  • The incumbent must be organized, creative and able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French (St.Joseph and St.Jean/La Croisée).
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of English (Mother Teresa)
  • Bilingual is an asset.

Main Duties:

  • Prepare nutritious and well balanced daily meals for children, in accordance with planned menus;
  • Make any necessary menu changes or substitutions to accommodate special needs and food allergies (anaphylactic);
  • Make sure that the kitchen and food storage are clean and properly arranged at all times;
  • Assure the safety in the kitchen environment;
  • Plan menus and determine size of food portions.

Compensation: The compensation is fixed between $20.06 and $22.58 per hour.

Summer Students (May 1 to September 1)

Public Works Operator (40 hours per week)

Under the supervision of Public Works Supervisor, students will assist in a variety of laboring activities to maintain sidewalks, streets and roads and perform other related duties.

Requirements:

  • Must have a high School Diploma;
  • Must provide a clear criminal record;
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver's license;
  • Must have CSA approved work boots;
  • Requires some physical effort such as lifting, pulling and carrying;
  • Bilingual.

Compensation: The salary is fixed between $17 and $19.25 per hour.

Human Resources Clerk (35 hours per week)

Under the supervision of the Corporate Services and Human Resources Officer, the incumbent will provide administrative support and various clerical tasks to the Human Resources Department and assist with the implementation of electronic Human Resources and Corporate Services files.

Duties will include but not limited to performing electronic data entry, filing, preparation of onboarding and recruitment electronic files and perform miscellaneous job-related files as assigned.

Requirements:
The candidate must have clerical experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 such as Word, Excel and SharePoint. The candidate must have experience working in a multi-tasked environment and must have organizational and interpersonal skills and must be bilingual.

Compensation: The salary is $15.50 per hour and work hours for this position is Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Parks Attendants

Requirements:

  • Must be 16 years or older;
  • Must have CSA approved work boots, and;
  • Must provide a clear criminal record (18 years or older);
  • Driver’s license an asset.

Compensation: The salary is $15.50 per hour.

Compensation:
The Lifeguard/Instructor salary is fixed between $16 and $17.50 per hour.
The Assistant Supervisor salary is fixed between $17 and $19.25 per hour.
The Supervisor salary is fixed between $19 and $21.25 per hour.

Graduate Educators, the salary is fixed between $22.91 and $25.79 per hour.

Building Official (Full-Time)
Under the direction of the Planning, Building and Economic Development Director and the Chief Building Official, the candidate will be responsible for the review of building permit applications and plans, conduct required building inspections, maintenance inspections and issue orders while ensuring compliance to the Ontario Building Code and other applicable laws. The Building Official will ensure that buildings and related systems meet or exceed minimum standards for protection of the safety and welfare of the consumer, general public, owners and occupants.

Requirements:

  • The candidate must possess a post-secondary education in a related discipline and/or combination of specialized training and experience. The ideal candidate must possess a minimum of the general legal and the house qualifications with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and working knowledge of the provincial acts and codes, municipal by-laws is a must.
  • The Township of Russell will support learning and qualification for candidates who are working towards full qualifications.
  • The candidate must be able to work efficiently under time restraints as well as communicate in a professional manner and hold a valid class G driver's license.

Language requirements: Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of both French and English.

Compensation: The salary, based on 35 hours per week, is between, $53,883 and $67,334 per year in addition to a market premium adjustment together with an excellent benefit package. The Township further recognizes this position having successfully completed course work/certifications process.

Junior Planner (Full-Time)

Under the direction of the Planning, Building and Economic Development Director, the candidate person will carry out a variety of tasks related to the urban planning, including the communication of information and technical advice to requests from the public concerning requests for information on different properties, minor variances, severances, rezoning applications. The junior planner will assist the building officials with the approval of site plans related to the building permit application.

Skills, Competencies and Knowledge:

  • A college or university degree in the field of urban planning, geography or law;
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the municipal or private sector;
  • A working knowledge of the Planning Act, by-laws and zoning bylaws is an asset;
  • Ability to work efficiently under time restraints as well as communicate in a professional manner.

Language Requirements: Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of both French and English (preferred).
