Position Overview

The Planning department of the Township of Russell is currently seeking a motivated individual for the above-mentioned position.

Under the direction of the Planning, Building and Economic Development Director, the Planner will be responsible for processing requests related to zoning amendment, site plan and plans of subdivision and drafting of relevant planning development policies. The candidate will ensure that safety, quality and efficiency are respected in the planning process and monitor on-going projects. In addition, the Planner will be responsible for preparing reports, follow up on internal and external communications related the projects as well as prepare research projects.

The Planner will work with other professional disciplines and municipal authorities to deliver high quality services to our clients and consultants. The candidate will also represent the Planning Department at various committees on issues related to planning.

Skills, Competencies, and Knowledge

  • A post-secondary education in Planning or Geography or other related field.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a municipal or private environment in the field of urban planning.
  • Member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).
  • Advanced knowledge of office software, including, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure and be able to set priorities.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, research and report writing skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Able to maintain confidential information.

Language Requirements

Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of both French and English.

Compensation

The salary based on a 35 hours week is between $62,229 and $77,777 per year. The Township further offers an attraction and retention premium to qualified Planners. Details of the premium program is available upon request. The Township also offers an excellent benefit package as well as a benefit pension plan. Position Overview

Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator the ideal candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Plan and organize activities related to the bowling hall;
  • Oversee the bowling hall, maintenance and repairs;
  • Responsible in hiring, scheduling and supervision and training of staff ;
  • Provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Customer service skills ;
  • Basic knowledge of finances such as the preparation of bank deposit and account reconciliation ;
  • Minimum supervision ;
  • Must work well in a team environment ;
  • Knowledge of with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) ;
  • Experience in administrative and building maintenance services would be an asset ;
  • Provide a Criminal Record Check.

Compensation

The salary, based on a 35 hours per week and up to a maximum of 40 hours per week is between $23.29/hour and $28.18/hour.

School Crossing Guards

Under the supervision of the Director of Public Safety and Enforcement, this position is responsible for the safety of school children at assigned street crossings for designated hours each day the schools are in session.

Primary Activities

  • Direct and maintain discipline among children going to or returning from school in crossing streets in assigned areas during designated hours.
  • Provide gaps in traffic to permit the crossing of school children at designated crossings.
  • Report vehicles failing to obey traffic regulations at school crossings.
  • Report accidents involving school children or vehicles in the vicinity of the school crossing areas to the proper authorities.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.

Compensation

The compensation is fixed at $16 per crossing.

  • Must be 18 years or older;

  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French. English an asset.

Non-Graduate Educator

The Non-Graduate Educator will be responsible for delivering an educational program including activities that are geared toward children's development, their health, their security and their well-being.

  • Please include all current certification including first aid/C.P.R. and valid and Negative Criminal Record Check- Vulnerable Sector (within six months).

  • Candidates must be 18 years or older.

The salary is fixed between $18.80 and $21.28 per hour.
Receptionist (Part-Time) The receptionist will be responsible to greet the parents and children and point in the right direction within the Daycare.
  • Respond to parents’ requests;
  • Perform various administrative tasks;
  • Provide general supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and the property;
  • Possibility to work with a group of children

 

  • Must be 18 years or older;
  • Valid and Negative Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector (within six months);
  • Current certification including first aid/C.P.R.
  • Work hours from 6:30 am to 9:00 am and 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm with the possibility of full-time hours during holiday and school vacations
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French. English an asset.

The salary is between $15.05 and $16.98 per hour.
