The update of the schematic concept for the Class A for the recreation complex was presented to Council. Following this meeting, these are the proposed next steps:

  • June 24th, 2024 – Presentation to Council
    • Tender results and contract awarding
    • Updated Financial Plan (including the construction budget and long-term operational budget)
  • Summer 2024: the following activities will be ongoing concurrently:
    • Recreation complex construction begins
    • Development and implementation of a sponsorship strategy
    • Analysis and strategic discussions with Council on the future of some of our assets which will become surplus (two arenas, Centre Camille Piché, etc.)
    • Keep exploring grant opportunities
Strategic Discussion – Public Engagement Policy (Item 21a)

We had the pleasure of hearing perspectives from our four councillors regarding the future policy on public engagement in the Township. They addressed four questions posed by the administration:

  1. What results or objectives do you hope to achieve through public engagement?
  2. What level of involvement do you expect from the public in decision-making processes?
  3. In your opinion, how can the municipality better communicate and promote public engagement opportunities to reach a broader audience?
  4. What additional tools or platforms would you like to see used for public engagement?

We encourage you to watch the recording of the meeting on YouTube to hear the councillors’ responses. Please note that this discussion was purely informative, and no decisions were made. The goal was to gather councillors’ viewpoints on the matter.

In the coming months, the Township will provide residents with an opportunity to share their perspectives on the future public engagement policy. More details will follow.

The next Council meeting will be Monday, April 29, 2024, at 6:00p.m.
