The video of the full meeting can be viewed here.

Modification to the Calendar of Budget Meetings for Budget (Item 11d)
Council approved a by-law to update the yearly calendar for budget meetings. The first budget working session will take place on October 23, 2025, with a second session on October 24, 2025, if needed. These sessions will happen two weeks after the presentation of the first draft of the budget.
Embrun Rib Fest (Item 11e)

Council approved the proposed road closure of Notre-Dame Street, between St-Jacques Road to Lapointe Boulevard, to hold the first Embrun Rib Fest on September 6, 2025, between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Noise Exemption (Item 11f)

Council approved a noise exemption request from June 13 to 15, 2025, at 8 Blais Street in Embrun to accommodate outside music events during the “Summerfest/Célébrons Ensemble 2025”.
Urban Tree By-law (Item 11g)
Council did not approve the by-law as it was presented. Staff were directed to revise the draft by removing the tree permit fee, including a policy for trees on Township property and proposing a more flexible approach. A revised version will be brought back to Council at a future meeting.
Storm Sewer reconstruction on Notre-Dame Street (Item 11i)

Council awarded the first contract to Coalwater Excavation. Construction is expected to begin at the end of June. More details about the timeline and road closures will be shared as they become available.

Announcements

Willie O’Ree Award Nomination
Council is proud to recognize local resident Mackenzie Janes for his nomination of the NHL’s annual Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award™. This award honours individuals who use hockey to make a positive impact on their community, culture, or society.

Mackenzie is the founder and president of Next Shift Hockey, a non-profit organization that provides free hockey equipment to those in need. Now in its fourth year, the group has helped more than 1,000 players and 200 goalies continue playing without cost barriers. They also offer coaching support and health and fitness training.

  • Click here to watch a video about Mackenzie Janes.
  • Vote now for your community hero at NHL.com/OReeAward. Voting is open until May 25, 2025.

This year, two winners will be selected—one in Canada and one in the U.S.—with each receiving a $25,000 donation to give to a charity of their choice and the remaining 4 nominees receiving $5,000.

The next Council meeting will be Monday, May 26, 2025, at 6:00p.m.
