Earth Day 2026
This year’s Earth Day theme, Conscious Consumption, encourages individuals and communities to reflect on how everyday choices impact the environment. By being more mindful of what we buy, use, and discard, we can reduce waste, conserve natural resources, and support a healthier ecosystem.
Simple actions—like reducing consumption, reusing and repairing items, recycling properly, and choosing environmentally responsible products—can make a meaningful difference. This Earth Day, take a moment to reflect on your habits, make more conscious choices, and reconnect with the land that makes up Russell Township—helping to protect it for generations to come.
Community Events
The Township of Russell and the Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Committee continue to encourage environmental awareness and community involvement in support of Earth Day (April 22, 2026).
You can take part in an environmental event that will take place on Saturday, April 25, across our community:
- Community Clean-Up Day: Residents are encouraged to help us make our community cleaner by cleaning parks and neighborhoods. You can leave the bags at the curb. No tags required.
- The New York Central Recreational Trail Clean-Up: between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., members of the Township’s Environmental and Sustainability Advisory Committee invite you to join them in cleaning up the recreational trail. Committee members will be located at key entry points along the trail to provide gloves and bags. Please dress appropriately (long sleeves and pants are recommended).
