Join Us for the Township of Russell Photo Expo!

You’re invited to the unveiling of the winning photographs from the 2025 Township of Russell Photo Expo! This exciting reveal will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. You will find the Expo in the big barn behind the Russell Arena at 1076 Concession Street in Russell.

This year’s theme, “Up Close and Personal,” along with our continued support from the Ontario Arts Council, inspired a record number of entries. With 220 submissions, the jury faced the challenge of selecting just four winners.

The winning photographs will be added to the outdoor exhibition at the start of recreational trail at 901 Notre-Dame Street in Embrun. Each winner will also receive CARFAC artist fees of $400 in recognition of their contribution. In addition, the jury awarded five honourable mentions. Both the winners and the honourable mentions will receive a subscription to PhotoEd Magazine to help inspire their ongoing artistic journeys.

But the awards don’t stop there! Visitors to the Expo can vote for their favourite photo to determine the “Crowd Favourite”. The winning photographer will a $50 gift card to Euphie d’ici – the perfect treat to enjoy while exploring the outdoor photo expo along the trail!

Over half of the photo submissions, including work from all 75 photographers, will be on display from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. inside the Big Barn. Be sure to stop by and discover the beauty of our community through the lens of our talented photographers!

The Photo Expo will take place during the Autumn in the Country Art Festival, which runs from Friday September 12 to Sunday September 14, 2025, and showcases the work of local artists and artisans. It’s a wonderful opportunity to not only enjoy photography but also discover and support local talent. The Photo Expo is growing and inspiring new exhibitions in our Township! There will also be a photo exhibition at the Keith Boyd Museum (1150 Concession Street, Russell) titled Before Us, With US: What the First Settlers Saw. Photos from past participants of the Photo Expo explore the incredible and intimate parts of Russell Township that inspired our first settlers and continue to inspire us today. They will be on display Saturday September 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sunday September 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
