National Public Works Week is from May 18 to 24, 2025, and the Township of Russell is inviting residents to learn more about the essential services the Township’s Infrastructure Services provides. We often take the public works that surround us for granted, and this week we invite you to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn, as we share photos of our crew in action to appreciate and thank them for the essential services they provide.

This year’s theme, “People, Purpose, Presence,” highlights three cornerstone ideals that motivate public works professionals to serve in their communities every day. Meeting the needs of people is what gives public works its sense of purpose. Many times, public works professionals will never meet those whose lives have been impacted because when things are going right, no one knows that public works is there. Yet, with or without fanfare, public works is ever present, working in the background to advance quality of life for all.

Why is Public Works Week Important?

Public works employees keep the water running in our homes. They often work through long stretches of shifts and are always on call for emergencies or to keep the roads clear and safe. The objective of National Public Works Week is to honor the services of the heroes who live among us.

Public works are an indispensable part of any developed society. Thank a public worker when you see them during National Public Works Week, and everyday!
