New Official Plan

1. DATE, TIME & LOCATION

The Township of Russell invites all interested persons to attend a Statutory Public Open House to consider revisions and provide input on the Township’s Draft Official Plan, pursuant to the requirements of Section 17(16) of the Planning Act, RSO 1990, as amended.

Wednesday, February 12, 2025

6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Presentation Time 6:15 p.m.)

Town Hall: 717 Notre Dame Street, Embrun, Ontario, K0A 1W1

An Official Plan provides direction and policy objectives for the growth and development of the community and establishes where land uses (e.g. residential, commercial, and industrial) should be located. The Official Plan covers a broad range of topics including housing and future development opportunities, transportation, and economic development. The Official Plan works in conjunction with other municipal planning documents, such as the Zoning By-law, to guide the patterns of development in the Township’s Villages and the 417 Industrial Park.

2. PURPOSE AND EFFECT

The existing Official Plan was approved by the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (County) in 2018. The purpose of the Draft Official Plan is to be consistent with recent Provincial legislation and to conform with several significant changes to the current County OP, more specifically: expansions of the Settlement Area boundaries within the Township, and updates to growth management forecasts and policies for a 25-year planning horizon, to the year 2046.

3. SUBJECT LANDS

The new Official Plan will affect all lands within the following specific areas of the Township of Russell: Villages of Embrun, Russell, parts of Limoges and parts of Marionville, and the 417 Industrial Park.

4. AVAILABLE INFORMATION

At the Public Open House, the Draft Official Plan and Schedules (maps) will be available for review. Staff from the Township and the consultant team will be available to answer questions and receive feedback, as community input is integral to the review process.

Please visit the Township’s website at www.russell.ca/OfficialPlan, to learn more about the review process and to obtain a copy of the Draft Official Plan, Schedules and information and material available to the public for inspection.

5. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

For more information about this matter, including information about appeal rights, contact the Township of Russell at 717 Notre Dame Street, Embrun, Ontario, K0A 1W1 or via email to: Planning@russell.ca.
