Here's what you'll do as a Crossing Guard

Crossing Guards are responsible for ensuring that children travelling to and from school pass safely through their assigned crossing. Crossing Guards are safety figures and are important and engaged members of the community that keep our children safe.

Here are the specific job duties:

  • Direct and help pedestrians safely across the street, at designated crossings stopping traffic as necessary.
  • Communicate traffic safety, crossing rules, and other information to students and adults.
  • Inspect crossing on a daily basis and report any unsafe conditions.
  • Be aware of emergency vehicles approaching the area and ensure that they have priority over vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Shift wage rate is $17/crossing.

  • Assigned designated hours each day the schools are in session.
  • On-call possibilities when replacement is needed.

Municipal Junior Planner (Full-Time)

The Township of Russell is currently seeking an experienced professional to fulfill the full-time position of Junior Planner.

Under the direction of the Planning, Building and Economic Development Director, the candidate will carry out a variety of tasks related to urban planning, including the communication of information and technical advice to the public concerning requests for information on different properties, minor variances, severances and rezoning applications. The junior planner will assist the building department with the approval of site plans related to building permit applications.

 

Skills, Competencies and Knowledge:

  • College or university degree in the field of urban planning, geography or law.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the municipal or private sector.
  • Working knowledge of the Planning Act, by-laws and zoning bylaws is an asset.
  • Membership in Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and/or Ontario Provincial Planners Institute (OPPI) would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work efficiently under time restraints as well as communicate in a professional manner.

Language Requirements:

Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing in either French or English. Proficiency in the second official language a strong asset.

Compensation: 

The salary is based on a 35-hour week and ranges from $31.62 to $39.51 per hour. The Township also offers an excellent benefit package as well as benefit pension plan.

Daycare Positions
Registered Early Childhood Educators (Full and Part-Time)

The Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) will be under the supervision of the Daycare Manager and will be responsible for delivering an educational program including activities that are geared toward children's development, their health, their security and their well-being and ensure professional and efficient management of the programming and activities of the service.

Requirements:

  • College degree in Early Childhood Education or in the process of completing an apprenticeship program;
  • Be a member of the Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario;
  • Valid and Negative Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sector (within six months);
  • Hold a valid CPR and First Aid certification;
  • Must be 18 years or older;
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French (St.Joseph and St.Jean/La Croisée).
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of English (Mother Teresa)
  • Bilingual is an asset.


Compensation: The compensation is fixed between $24.47 and $27.54 per hour.

Non-Graduate Educators (Full and Part-Time)

The Non-Graduate Educator will be responsible for delivering an educational program including activities that are geared toward children's development, their health, their security and their well-being.

Requirements:

  • Please include all current certification including first aid/CPR
  • Valid and Negative Criminal Record Check- Vulnerable Sector (within six months).
  • Candidates must be 18 years or older.
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of French (St.Joseph and St.Jean/La Croisée).
  • Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading and writing of English (Mother Teresa).
  • Bilingual is an asset.

Compensation: The compensation is fixed between $20.06 and $22.58 per hour.
