Notice of Public Meeting Regarding Development Charges: October 18, 2021

Take notice that on Monday, October 18, 2021 the Council of the Township of Russell will hold a public meeting pursuant to The Development Charges Act, 1997, regarding proposed development charge rates and policies that will be applied throughout the Township. It is proposed that enactment of development charges by-laws by Council would occur on a date subsequent to the public meeting.

Development charges are levied against new development, and are a primary source of funding for growth-related capital expenditures. The 2021 Development Charges Background Study relates to the provision of the following eligible Development Charges Services: Library, Parks and Recreation, Daycare, By-law Enforcement, Fire Protection Services, Police, Development Related Studies, Services Related to a Highway of: Public Works and Roads and Related, Water, and Wastewater Services.

Council is required under The Development Charges Act, 1997 to hold at least one public meeting to allow the public the opportunity to review and provide comments on the 2021 Development Charges Background Study, related staff reports and the proposed development charges by-law.

Due to COVID-19, the Township of Russell Council meetings are by electronic participation only until further notice. A link to the live event will be available before the meeting in the Meeting and Events calendar on the Township website. 

A copy of the 2021 Development Charges Background Study was made available on the Township’s Development Charges webpage on Thursday, September 16, 2021. A copy of the development charges by-law will be made available on the Township’s Development Charges webpage on or before Monday, October 4, 2021.
