Admin Support – Pool (June to August)

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for greeting and directing customers by phone and in person, assisting with daily tasks at the front desk, and providing administrative support to pool employees.

Primary Activities:

  • Provide assistance and respond to customer inquiries by phone and in person.
  • Provide administrative support to pool staff.
  • Complete all registration requests using a computerized registration system.
  • Process all cash and credit transactions, and balance and prepare bank deposits.
  • Safeguard all cash and ensure compliance with security procedures for processing financial transactions.
  • Provide forms and instructors to residents regarding pool operations.
  • Collaborate with staff members to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Manage the flow of customers into and out of the facility to prevent overcapacity.
  • Any other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience in office administration and/or customer service.
  • Ability to work under pressure and address complaints.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Team player.
  • Knowledge of software and programs such as Word, Outlook, Excel and Internet.
  • Must be available to work morning, day, evening and weekend shifts.

Language requirements:

Excellent comprehension, speaking, reading and writing skills in French and English.

Compensation:

The salary, based on 30 hours a week, is $17.61 per hour. The Township offers a pension plan as well as free access to the gym at the Municipal Sports Dome while employed with the Township.

Municipal Planner

The Infrastructure and Planning Department of the Township of Russell is currently seeking a motivated individual for the above-mentioned position.

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Infrastructure and Planning, the Planner is responsible for processing requests related to zoning amendments, site plans, subdivision plans, and drafting relevant planning and development policies. This role ensures that safety, quality, and efficiency are upheld throughout the planning process and that on-going projects are monitored. Additionally, the Planner is responsible for preparing reports, following up on internal and external communications related to the projects, as well as preparing research projects.

The Planner works with other professional disciplines and municipal authorities to deliver high-quality services to our clients and consultants and will represent the Planning Department at various committees on issues related to planning.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Post-secondary education in Planning, Geography, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a municipal or private environment in the field of urban planning.
  • Member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and set priorities effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, research, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work well in a team environment.
  • Able to maintain confidential information.

Language requirements:

Excellent proficiency in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in both French and English.

Compensation:

The salary, based on a 35-hour workweek, is set between $73,504 and $91,749 per year and includes an excellent benefits package, a pension plan, and free access to the gym at the Municipal Sports Dome.
