Intersection Improvement on Castor Street

The United Counties of Prescott and Russell, in collaboration with the Township of Russell, will be leading a project to install new traffic lights, turning lanes, pedestrian crossings, and guardrail for added safety at the intersection of Castor Street, Eadie Road, and Wade Road.

August 2025 Recreation Complex Update

Over the past few weeks, great progress has been made on the new recreation complex:

  • Pool area: The walls of the new leisure pool have been poured, and crews are working on the pool’s piping systems.
  • Arena building exterior: Masonry crews have finished the east and west facades of the rinks, as well as the north wall of the resurfacer area. Siding crews are now working behind the completed masonry.

Join us for an informative session and get a chance to try it for yourself! We will have balls on hand, but you are required to bring your own paddles. Come by on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. or from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Sports Dome (150 Sportsplex Street, Embrun).

The cost is $10 per player and payable the day of at the reception of the Sports Dome. Maximum 16 participants per group.

Some safety reminders while using the New York Central Recreational Trail this summer, and all year round!

Safety regulations

  1. Stop at all crossings until it is safe to cross. And activate pedestrian crossing signal if available.
  2. Keep right and pass on the left when the path is clear.

Recreation Complex Update – July 7, 2025

Progress is moving quickly at the Township of Russell Recreation Complex! Each week brings major milestones as we move full steam ahead to deliver this important community facility.

This week, the erection of the pool structure has begun — a major step forward. Last week, we completed the leisure pool slab, and the walls are expected to be poured this week. We’ve also successfully poured the first rink apron slab and are preparing to pour the second one next week.
