Registration for Spring Pickleball

Registrations for the spring pickleball session will open on Tuesday, March 11 at 9a.m. for residents and on Friday, March 14 at 9a.m. for non-residents.

We are returning to the previous method of online registration and first-come, first-served. We ask that you limit your registration to two sessions in order to ensure equitable participation by allowing more participants to register.

Half-Load Restrictions in effect as of March 7, 2025

Half-load restrictions are now in effect for the spring thawing season. These restrictions apply to vehicles with a weight exceeding 5,000 kilograms or five tonnes per axle.

Signs indicating the weight restrictions have been installed on all municipal roads where they apply. Road and weather conditions are routinely reviewed to determine the end date for the restrictions.

Please note that emergency vehicles are exempt from these restrictions.

Green Bin Delivery Begins

Starting March 5, the Township will begin home deliveries of 120-litre green bins and 7-litre kitchen bins in preparation for the organic waste collection starting April 7. Bins will be placed at the bottom of driveways.

We ask for your patience as deliveries will continue throughout March and into early April.

Hazardous Waste Collection

Good news! After discussions with our provider, we now have a date for the 2025 hazardous waste collection. It will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the municipal garage (857 Route 400, Embrun).

What Items Can I Bring?

Take the opportunity to get rid of your paint, aerosols, oil filter, oil, fuel, pesticides, batteries, light bulbs (including fluorescent), propane, fertilizer, antifreeze, acids, fire extinguishers etc.

Pink Shirt Day is celebrated annually on the last Wednesday of February. This year, it falls on February 26, 2025. On this day, we honour the small act of kindness that took place in Berwick, Nova Scotia, back in 2007 when a boy was bullied for wearing a pink shirt and two grade 12 students bought 50 pink shirts and encouraged their classmates to wear pink. Council had the pleasure of presenting a Community Award to Dave Dyer last night for his active participation in local sports and volunteerism. Dave has been involved in the advancement of sports in Russell for many years. He helped champion the first public tennis court facility and helped bring outdoor lighting to the baseball diamonds and soccer fields in Russell.
