November is Hindu Heritage Month

Russell Township proudly recognizes and celebrates this special month which culminates with Diwali, a festival of lights, on November 12.

Neeraj Joshi, a local resident since 2021 will be celebrating Diwali with friends and family here in Russell Township by lighting sparklers and candles to signify the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

The holiday is made complete with delicious food, especially sweets.

Roads Reopen: Craig, Mill & Parklands

After months of construction and a summer of detours, we are delighted to announce that Craig Street, Mill Street and Parkland Avenue are once again fully open to traffic! While there are still some touch-ups to be done in the coming days to complete the work, the road and lane closures have ended. Remembrance Day Ceremonies 2023

The following are the 2023 Remembrance Ceremonies in the Township area:

  • Russell: November 11, 2023, at 24 Legion Lane, Russell (Russell Legion). Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. followed by a ceremony. Residents are invited to the Russell Curling Club after the ceremony. This event is hosted by the Russell Legion.

Parks Closed for the Season

For the safety of our residents, all municipal parks with a play structure as well as our skateparks are now closed for the winter. Equipment should not be used until we officially reopen in the spring after a safety inspection has been done.

An on-street parking ban is in effect each night from 1:00a.m. to 7:00a.m. from December 1, 2023, to February 28, 2024, inclusively, regardless of weather conditions.

St-Guillaume Road Reopens

Canada Community-Building Fund Helps Pave Two Roads

This year, Russell Township received $714,002 from the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) which was used to pave two sections of roads, Loucks Drive (in its entirety), and Route 400, from South Russell Road to Wade Street.
