Flags at Half-Mast in Memory of 215 Children in Kamloops

Flags will be half-masted on all municipal buildings and properties in the Township of Russell from sunrise to sunset effective Monday, May 31 to Tuesday, June 8, 2021, to honour the lives and memories of the 215 children found in a mass grave at a residential school in Kamloops.  The flags will remain lowered for one hour for every child whose life was taken

COVID-19: Provincial Reopening of Outdoor Recreational Amenities on May 22, 2021

As of Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 12:01 a.m., the following outdoor recreational amenities will be open :

  • Tennis and pickleball courts
  • Basketball courts
  • Soccer fields
  • Baseball diamonds
  • Horse shoe court
  • Skate parks
  • Boat launch

New 40km/h Speed in Residential Zones

Earlier this year, Council approved an amendment to the Traffic and Parking By-law to reduce the speed limit to 40km/h within residential areas.

Subdivisions now have signs at their entrance and exit to designate the area as a 40km/h zone instead of 50km/h. All signs have been installed and reduced speeds are in effect. There are a total of 156 signs installed.
