Schedule Changes for Victoria Day Weekend 2020

The Township of Russell would like to remind residents of the following schedule changes for Victoria Day on Monday, May 18th 2020:

• Our offices are closed on Monday, May 18th for Victoria Day. Regular hours of operation return on Tuesday, May 19th.
• The collection of waste and recycling services will be delayed by one day. See our revised 2020 Waste Collection Calendar.

Please note that many services and facilities are already affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Keep up-to-date with those changes at 

Flags Half-Mast Tuesday April 28th for Worker's Mourning Day 2020

On Tuesday April 28th 2020, flags on all municipal buildings and locations in the Township of Russell will be at half-mast from sunrise to sunset to mark Workers’ Mourning Day.



This is in pursuant to Section g (i) Special Days under Mandatory Half-Masting of the Half-Masting and Raising of Flags Policy 2016-152.

Township Flags at Half-Mast to Honour Victims in Nova Scotia Shooting

Russell Township Mayor Pierre Leroux has approved that flags in the Township of Russell will be at half-mast until next Monday, April 27th for all who lost their lives in Nova Scotia’s mass shooting.



“Our sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of those killed in this senseless act of violence, including Const. Heidi Stevenson. We mourn for the tragic loss in their community during these difficult times. Our prayers and love go out to those affected,” says Mayor Leroux.

Schedule Changes for Easter Weekend 2020

The Township of Russell would like to remind residents that following schedule changes will take place Friday, April 10th and Monday, April 13th 2020 due to Easter weekend: 

• Our offices are closed Friday, April 10th for Good Friday and Monday, April 13th for Easter. Regular hours of operation return on Tuesday April 14th.
• The collection of waste and recycling services usually on Friday, April 10th will be postponed to Saturday April 11th due to Easter weekend. The Monday to Thursday schedule of...

April 2nd 2020 Declared World Autism Awareness Day

Township of Russell, do hereby declare April 2nd, 2020 as World Autism Awareness Day and raise the Autism Ontario flag from on April 2nd, 2020 in honour of this special day.

Half Load Restrictions in Effect March 6th 2020

Township Proclamates Kinsmen and Kinettes Week

The Township of Russell proclaims Thursday, February 20, 2020, Kinsmen and Kinettes Day; the week of February 16 - 22, 2020, Kinsmen and Kinettes Week, a Celebration of Kinsmen and Kinettes in Canada; and urge all citizens to salute their local Kinsmen and Kinettes.
