It’s Canadian Environment Week! This week is an opportunity to celebrate environmental protection and sustainability. It also coincides with World Environment Day on June 5.

The Township of Russell is taking environmental action by:

  1. Adding organics (compost/green bin) to the Township's waste collection services starting in the Winter of 2024. This has been a popular community request over the past few years. It will be a big step to reducing waste sent to the landfill. Details to come!

Roundabout Construction on St-Guillaume at St-Pierre

Work continues on a new Roundabout on St-Guillaume Road at St-Pierre, near the Vars 417. This project, from the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, is to help the traffic flow of our growing community. This part of the project began on May 23rd 2023 to complete concrete work and culverts on the South leg of the roundabout and establish the West quadrant of the roundabout.

May Positive Tickets for Youth

We are rewarding youth for good deeds in our community!

Our Public Safety and Enforcement officers are issuing "positive tickets" to local youth for helpful actions, behaviour, and acts of kindness. Each “ticket” includes a gift card to a local business as a reward for being a great role model.

2022 Financial Statements Now Available

As per to Section 295 (1) a) ii) of the Municipal Act, 2001, copies of the 2022 audited consolidated financial statements for the Township of Russell are now available to any taxpayer or resident of the municipality. Hydrant Flushing Begins May 17, 2023

Starting May 17, 2023, Public Utilities operators will begin flushing hydrants across the Township. The Public Utilities Department open up fire hydrants of the water distribution system to make sure the system is working optimally.

Friday, May 12th 2023, will be the last day of the branch collection. This extra collection was added to support residents directly impacted by the recent ice storm which created damage to many trees in the community. It was not intended for residents to dispose of trees and yard clippings unrelated to the storm.
