New Speed Humps on Centenaire Street and King Street

There are now speed humps on Centenaire Street and King Street! As part of the Township 2018-2022’s Strategic Plan, we are reviewing pedestrian safety. This initiative valued at $10,000 will deliver a total of five speed humps to these problematic areas. These are only two of many locations that have action plans for 2021; more are still to come. October 2021 - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

At the October 4, 2021 Council Meeting, Council proclaimed October 2021 as Breast Cancer Awareness month in the Township of Russell. The Breast Cancer flag will be raised at the Town Hall from October 5 to 31, 2021. At this time, flags are at half-mast to mourn the recent discovery of hundreds of unmarked graves near former residential schools across the country. The Breast Cancer flag will also be raised to half mast during the month of October.

Please note that Public Utilities invoices for the period of July – September 2021 that were sent to residents at the beginning of October 2021 may have an error on the due date. The due date should read October 27, 2021 and not September 27, 2021.

Please note that this applies only to Embrun residents.

Rest assured that no penalties were wrongly calculated on your account if the date that appears is September 27, 2021.

National Peace and Police Officers Memorial Day – September 26, 2021

On September 26, 2021, we recognize National Peace and Police Officers Memorial Day. We wish to thank all peace and police officers for their service. Concession Street Road Closure Starting Monday, September 20, 2021

Starting Monday September 20, 2021, Concession Street will be closed from Bank Street to Church Street for a period of 2 weeks for a sanitary sewer upgrade. A detour will be in place; visit the Municipal511.ca website for detour information. Once that part of the work is completed, the road will be reopened and the work will continue on Church Street. 

New Pedestrian Crossovers Along the Recreational Trail

There are five new pedestrian crossovers installed in the Township of Russell along the recreational trail. The new pedestrian crossovers provide safe roadway crossing for pedestrians at the following locations:

  • St-Pierre Road at the Recreational Trail

Flushing certain items can result in a back-up of the sewer line into your home or create problems at the Township's wastewater treatment facility.

August 10th 2021, Embrun - ON — The Township of Russell has a new Fireworks By-Law that will allow residents to use fireworks during specific dates throughout the year.

For your and your family’s safety please verify that there is no tape (tape shown in the photo) or any other covering on any of the smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in your home. The tape that seals these smoke and carbon monoxide alarms will prevent the units from functioning as intended.
