Recreation Complex Now in Design Phase

The Township of Russell’s Recreation Complex project is moving into the design phase.

At the council meeting of Monday, April 4, 2022, Council reviewed and approved the Recreation Complex layout plan, financial plan, and gave approval to move forward with a detailed design. Bridge on Route 400 Replaced

The bridge replacement project on Route 400 is now complete. The construction of this major project is budgeted at $1,300,000 and has been ongoing since April of this year.

All bridges in the Township are inspected once every two years by an engineer, following guidelines in the Ontario Structure Inspection Manual. The engineer’s report identifies the condition of municipal bridges, which allows the Township to financially plan and prepare for future repairs or replacements.

Bowling is back! The Embrun Bowling Hall is officially reopening as of this Friday, March 25, 2022.

Patrons will notice some changes since their last visit – staff have been hard at work upgrading the bowling hall with new tablet scoreboards and televisions!

With the recent Provincial announcement on COVID-19 mandates, there are no remaining impacts to Township programs, services, or facilities due to COVID-19 regulations.

Half-Load Restrictions Lifted May 10, 2022

Half-load restrictions are lifted as of Monday, May 10, 2022.

Half-load restrictions are put into effect for the spring thawing season. This affects load vehicles that are heavier than 5,000 kilograms or five tonnes per axle.

Signs are installed on all municipal roads where these weight restrictions apply. Road and weather conditions are routinely reviewed to determine the end date of weight restrictions.

Emergency vehicles are exempt.

After community debate over the Township’s current namesake, Peter Russell, the Township of Russell will be keeping its name but rededicating the honour of the name “Russell” to a new candidate who better represents the community’s ideals.

COVID-19: Provincial Reopening of Recreational Amenities, January 31, 2022

A reminder as of Monday, January 31, 2022, indoor recreation facilities including the sports dome, arenas, and community centres have reopened following the ease of provincial restrictions. Applicable health measures and requirements still apply.

Are you a dog owner? The Township of Russell has made changes to the Animal Care and Control By-Law to simplify the dog tag registration and renewal process. As of January 18, 2022, the following changes are in effect:
