Did you know some local hardware stores accept common hazardous waste at ANY time of the year? You don't need to wait until Hazardous Waste Day to get rid of items like paint, lightbulbs, and batteries.

Year-Round Options

At any time during the year, visit these local hardware stores to dispose of your hazardous products:

  • Barry's Home Hardware (120 Craig St, Russell, ON) for residential paints and batteries;
  • Rona Embrun (755 Notre-Dame, Embrun ON) for residential paints and lightbulbs.

Restrictions may apply. Please call these locations before bringing your products.

For other locations throughout the year, visit Resource Productivity and Recovery and Product Care Recycling.

Special Drop-Off Events

Due to the popularity of the hazardous waste events, we may reach capacity before 2p.m. The Ministry of Environment prohibits us from accepting any drop-offs after 2p.m., even if there are still participants waiting in line with their products.

Take the opportunity to get rid of your hazardous waste items at one of our annual drop-off events. Specific dates are listed on our online event calendar or in our printable Waste Collection Calendar.

The drop-off event is hosted at the municipal garage, located at 851 Route 400 in Embrun from 8 a.m. to 2p..m.
