The Township of Russell does not have its own municipal police service. The Ontario Provincial Police, a provincial-level service, serve the Township of Russell community.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Russell County Detachment is located at 411 New York Central Avenue in Embrun. To contact the local detachment, dial 1-888-310-1122.

Road Safety
The Township collects traffic data along streets in our villages to understand if traffic calming measures are needed. We always record traffic data from both sides of the street. You may sometimes notice a screen is turned off — don't worry, data is still being collected. Turning the screen off can help us collect more representative data.
Traffic and Speeding Complaints
Complaints about speeding and other Highway Traffic Act violations must be reported to the Ontario Provincial Police.

Help your community by reporting traffic violations, including:
- speeding;
- dangerous driving;
- failure to obey stop signs and traffic lights; and
- other illegal and dangerous driving behaviors.
